Text: Revelation 4:11 (ESV)

Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.

Main Message

  • Worthy is synonymous  to the word deserving or worthy of.

  • LORD

    • The writer is referring to the Hebrew word Yahweh, the sacred name of God, God’s personal name. When we talk about Yahweh or Jehovah, we are talking about His personality, His character.

  • Lord

    • From the Greek word Kyrios, meaning master.

  • Acknowledging God as our Lord, means surrendering everything to him. Unless we recognize and acknowledge that God is our Lord, our master, we won’t be able to experience of of Him in life.

  • We are worshipping people. The question is who do we worship today?

  • 1 Peter 2:9 (ESV) - But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

  • God has given us the authority to be a priest before Him, and we are to offer our own worship to God.

  • Worship is in everything that we do. The way we move and act, the way we conduct ourselves, the way we speak, the way we think should be all towards glorifying the name of God.

  • Worship is a response to:

  • God's Love

    • The cross symbolizes God’s love for us.

    • 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love. God’s nature is to love and our response should be to worship him.

  • God's Holy Presence

    • The four living creatures in the presence of God never cease to say day and night

    • Revelation 4:8 (ESV) - Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come.

    • Revelation 4:10 (ESV) - twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives forever and ever.

  • God's Greatness

    • Revelations 15:3-4 (ESV) - Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you.

    • Our God is the only God who can create something out of nothing and His works are great.

    • That is why we need to worship Him and Him alone.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What is my purpose in life? Where is God in my purpose?

  2. Worship is in everything we do, how can I worship daily?

  3. What does it mean to you that you are a royal priesthood? How can you perform your priesthood duties?
